New Baby Bonds Invest Money for California Children

In 2022, Shimica served as a key architect in the passage of The California Hope, Opportunity, Perseverance, and Empowerment (HOPE) for Children Trust Account Program (HOPE Act), HOPE accounts aim to close the racial wealth gap and confront the issue of intergenerational poverty by creating a new financial investment program specifically catered to vulnerable children throughout the state. Shimica continues to work on the implementation and expansion of #Babybonds #HopeAccounts in California.
